DA allowance: After the approval of the eighth pay, the dearness allowance of central employees is zero

DA Hike

At the same time, a big update is also coming regarding dearness allowance. Some reports are coming out about the dearness allowance of central employees being zero. Dearness allowance for central employees is a major part of the salary, with which the employees make their life easier.

(dearness allowance 8th pay commission): The 8th Pay Commission will also be constituted soon by the Central Government. The new pay commission for employees will be implemented from January 1, 2026. The Union Minister has said that the government is committed to implement the new 8th Pay Commission on time.

The cabinet has approved it. More than 1 crore employees and pensioners will directly benefit from the 8th Pay Commission. At the same time, a big update is also coming regarding dearness allowance becoming zero.

Employees will get bumper benefits

After the approval of the 8th Pay Commission, it is to be implemented from January 1, 2026. Employees are already curious about the salary figures.

How much impact it is going to have on the salary of the employees is a matter of constant discussion. On the other hand, pensioners are also expected to get a big relief.

Pension is expected to reach up to three and a half lakh rupees. At the same time, big questions are coming up regarding dearness allowance. Will it be adjusted in the salary? Will it become zero?

First know how much the pension will increase

Before talking about the dearness allowance of the employees, let us talk about the pension of retired employees. In the 7th Pay Commission, the pension of the employees was increased according to the fitment factor of 2.57. The minimum basic pension was fixed at Rs. 9000 and the maximum pension at Rs. 1,25,000 per month.

In the 8th Pay Commission, a fitment factor of 2.86 is estimated. If implemented, the minimum basic pension will increase to Rs. 25,740. Whereas, the maximum pension can reach up to Rs. 3,57,500 per month. That is, there will be a bumper increase of more than 180 percent.

Dearness allowance will become zero

The government gives dearness allowance (DA allowance) to employees to protect them from inflation. Currently, it is 53 percent of the basic salary. It is the same in both salary and pension. If someone's pension is Rs 10,000, then after adding DA, it will become Rs 15,300.

At the same time, if the salary and pension will be revised under the new pay commission, then the dearness allowance will be made zero. Because the recommendations of the new pay commission i.e.

8th Pay Commission (8th pay commission DA) are to be implemented in January 2026. At that time, dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary and started from zero.

Dearness allowance will increase further

The new pay commission is to be implemented in 2026. Before that, the DA (DA Hike) of employees and pensioners is to be revised twice. It is currently 53 percent.

The dearness allowance of January 2025 is likely to be 56 percent. If we look at this trend, then the dearness allowance of July 2025 can go up to 59 percent. After that, the dearness allowance will start afresh in the new pay commission.
