The real victims of this scam are the people who buy smartphones or laptops. On e-commerce portals, many such phones are being sold in the name of Refurbished tag which are everything except Refurbished. So what to do, is the only option new and expensive? No sir, just know the definition of Refurbished.

What does Refurbished mean?

It is not just a word which means not new but like new. Just like in films, there is a body double for a character, in a similar way. Any device (smartphone, headphones, laptop, tablet) which may not have come directly from the factory, but comes through the same route. Refurbished does not mean a useless, damaged, returned product.

This means a product that has passed through several check points and is then made like new. There should be arrangements for service and warranty as well. 

Many websites sell such products. They first buy the product from their source, then put it through a set process. For example, a phone is first checked. It is assumed that everything is fine because the seller has to upgrade it.

Refurbished phones have several check points 

Such devices are sold after cleaning and formatting them. The condition of such devices is also clearly mentioned. For example, whether it has minor scratches or more. 

The condition of the device is always mentioned if the seller is not fake. If a device has been repaired, that is also mentioned. The price is also decided accordingly.

Such refurbished portals also offer a minimum of 6 months warranty. But as we have already mentioned, some products are being sold under this category, especially on e-commerce portals. 

This means there is no check point. It is not known whether the product is old or useless. There is no warranty either. Nowadays the portals do not take back the device, so the customer has to go to the service center in great pain.

The money saved is spent more than the money spent. The drums are broken when the money is not enough. That is why always take care of refurbished phones, laptops etc.
