Maruti Swift Dezire: Maruti's new great car is going to be launched in the market soon, will get great features
Maruti showcased its new Swift internationally last year and now a report from AutocarIndia has revealed that the new Swift will be available for sale in India next month. Swift will be one of Maruti's major launches this year,
And this will be followed by the launch of the new Dzire compact sedan later this year. The new Maruti Swift (codenamed: YED) features a fresh but familiar look, new interior, more features and a new petrol engine.
Swift has been spotted during testing in India. It will look similar to the model sold abroad. But, it will also get some features keeping India in mind. The publication has quoted sources as saying that the India-spec Maruti Swift will have slightly different looking front and rear bumpers,
But the changes will be minimal. The number plate housing will be larger and will not have contrasting black elements. The alloy wheel design is also the same as the international car, but the mid-spec variants will have a unique wheel design.
The C-pillar of the Swift coming to India will also be completely black like the Hyundai i20, but the reverse camera is placed on the boot lid instead of the rear bumper. The top-spec variants will have full-LED lights.
In terms of safety, six airbags with three-point seatbelts for rear passengers, ABS with EBD and ESP are expected as standard. The report also states that the car coming to India will not get a 360-degree camera or ADAS, which is seen in the models sold abroad.
Will get a new 1.2-litre Z series engine
The K Series 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine will be replaced by the new Z Series 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, which debuted on the Swift in Japan last year.
This engine will be specially modified for India with focus on emission, efficiency and output. According to the publication, the output of the Swift equipped with the new Z series will be similar to the outgoing K12 engine which generates 90hp of power and 113Nm of peak torque
And it is expected to come with mild-hybrid technology. There is no information about the transmission of the new Swift, but it is expected that this engine will continue to be available with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Its starting price in India can be Rs 6 lakh ex-showroom.
