The birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, will be celebrated on November 15, which will be a holiday. Schools, colleges, offices and banks will remain closed on this day in various states of the country, including Punjab and Chandigarh. 

There may be a government holiday on this day in other states as well. It is worth mentioning that Kartik Purnima, a great festival of Hinduism, also falls on November 15, which further increases the possibility of a holiday.

Why will there be a holiday on November 16?

On November 16, there is a government holiday in Punjab on the occasion of Shahadat Diwas. Schools, colleges, banks etc. will remain closed on this day. 

This day is celebrated in the memory of the great revolutionary martyr Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha, who was born on 24 May 1896 in Sarabha village of Ludhiana district. 

He fought an important battle for the independence of the country. His martyrdom gained an important place in the Indian freedom struggle, so every year this day is celebrated with reverence.

17th November is Sunday and there is a weekly holiday on this day. All the schools, colleges, banks and most offices and markets in the country remain closed. 

In Punjab too, there will be a government holiday on 17th November due to weekly holiday. In this way, there will be a holiday for 3 consecutive days in Punjab.
