MR Journalist, Uttar Pradesh News: The process of acquiring land to build Mathura Highway via Badaun, Aligarh and Bareilly is slow. The land acquisition was to be completed by March 31, 2023, but till now even ten percent of the land has not been acquired. This will delay the start of highway construction. This is the situation when the first tenders for construction have been floated recently. 80 percent land is not yet available to start construction.

GR Infratech Limited was given the responsibility of widening of Bareilly-Mathura National Highway 530B two months ago. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and land acquisition officials had claimed in several review meetings that land acquisition would be completed by March 31, but so far only 10 percent land acquisition has been done.

NHAI needs 115 hectares of land from thirty villages. Farmers will have to pay Rs 545 crore. Till now only Rs 1.5 crore have been distributed. Officials have claimed that about 60 percent of the land acquisition process has been completed, but the acquisition is considered complete only when the land money is credited to the farmer's account.

Lands of 26 out of 30 villages have been acquired.

City Magistrate and Special Land Acquisition Officer Arun Kumar said that 26 out of 30 villages have received the award for land acquisition. Now only six villages remain. It takes a lot of time for farmers to collect their papers and complete the entire process. But the tehsil team is united. While distributing the compensation, the acquisition will also take place as soon as possible.

This is the work to be done

NHAI plans to extend the Mathura Highway from Bareilly to 265 kilometres. In its third phase, work is to be done in Badaun district at a cost of Rs 2009.11 crore. This includes widening of roads to overbridges, underpasses and bypasses. NHAI Project Director Utkarsh Shukla said that the executing agency was selected about two months ago. As soon as the land acquisition work is more than 80 percent. Later permission will be given to work from the executing agency.
